WaterTrek

WaterTrek seeks to protect water and aquatic environments through education, using engaging content, accessible aquatic experiences, and by creating a community with shared values and common practices.

Building bridges between sustainable development and personal development through water, WaterTrek wishes to awaken the body and mind to the vital need to take care of our planet and ourselves, in order to better meet conservation challenges.

WaterTrek aims include:

  • To bring together a network of branches in Europe along major rivers, in major capitals, and around the Mediterranean Sea, which act and raise awareness locally.
  • To train ambassadors to teach and campaign in the Asian and Middle-Eastern countries most affected by the rising tide of plastic waste.
  • To develop sustainable projects in the communities of these developing countries, revolving around SUP, which include social, economic, and environmental dimensions.
  • To be effective both in our message and in the field, influencing our contemporaries in their consumption actions and choices, and give a taste for water back to them.

WaterTrek is present in Europe and Asia, and continues to develop local chapters. Find Out More

Tideway

Tideway is the company that will finance and deliver the Thames Tideway Tunnel, a 25km sewer tunnel urgently required to tackle sewage pollution in the tidal River Thames. Approximately the width of three London buses, the main tunnel will be up to 65 metres deep and run from Acton to Stratford, where it will connect with the Lee Tunnel (completed by Thames Water in January 2015) to transfer the excess sewage to Beckton for treatment. In total the project is expected to create 4,000 direct sustainable jobs. One in every 50 full time equivalent jobs will create a new apprenticeship on the project. Tideway is part sponsoring the Source to Sea relay. It is a fantastic opportunity for Tideway to demonstrate its values and help reconnect Londoners with their river, while learning new skills and having fun. Find out more.
